Woman Says Recovering From Hit-and-Run in Hillsboro Will Take Months
Hillsboro, Ore. – A woman is lucky to be alive after a hit and run in Hillsboro. Stephanie Lopez was on her way to work, last week, crossing NW 185th near McDonalds, when she was hit by a car.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for the driver. Surveillance footage shows the suspect turn into a nearby gas station, but the car’s license plates remain out of view.
Lopez says she spent four days in the hospital with a fractured pelvis and a broken back, and recovery will take at least three months. She’s now using a walker and a wheelchair.
She says she’s grateful for the public’s help covering some of her medical expenses. As of Monday, a GoFundMe page set up to help her has raised more than $7,400.
